ARIEL SABAR is an author of Iraqi-Kurdish Jewish heritage who won the National Book Critics Circle Award for his debut book, My Father’s Paradise: A Son’s Search for his Jewish Past in Kurdish Iraq (2008).
SHIN’s ANNUAL PURIM & NOWRUZ PROGRAM celebrates Persian and Iranic diversity and its expression. In 2019, Nowruz (Persian New Year) and Purim (a lively Jewish festival commemorating the salvation of the Jewish people from genocide in the ancient Persian empire) fall on the same day.
